第十屆回歸盃體育舞蹈錦標賽

10th Handover Cup DanceSport Championships on 3/7/22 was organized by Home Affairs Department and Central & Western Women Association with HKBDI as advising body.  It was re-scheduled from 26/6/22 at HK Park Sports Centre to 3/7/22 at Smithfield Road Sports Centre (1st time venue). The year 2022 was very meaningful & memorable as it was 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region handed over to China. HKSAR Government had promoted many Celebration Activities from 1st July onwards. This event was proud to be one of them.    104 Solo dancers and 71 couples took up their number tags.  I was very delighted to see with few talented couples out of town & under quarantine, almost all top competitors competed at the very spacious & atmospheric 1st time venue.  As advisor, I was asked to arrange three special performances : (a) 25 children dancing Latin Formation   ; (b) 5 invited couples dancing Tango ; (c) 5 invited couples dancing Rumba.  (a) meant celebrating 25 years of HK returning to the motherland , (b) & (c) resembled the celebration of 10th Anniversary of Handover Cup.   Coincidently, Handover Cup was cancelled for one year in 2020, allowing it to go into 10th rather than 11th in 2022 !  
Top Government officials attended as Officiating Guests for the celebration ceremony & prize presentations. The audience, adjudicators & competitors at scene were thrilled to see Mrs Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee.  She is currently the Convenor of the Executive Council and a member of the Legislative Council of HK, the most powerful lady in HK after the taking over of new Government on 1/7/2022.
